As the Laughing Chaplain, I frequently visit seniors in nursing homes. I had to live in a nursing home during the summer of 2024. God used this to open my eyes to the ministry he wanted me to devote my life to.
I saw first hand the need to provide joy and laughter to the residents, and to the help lighten the load of caring staff members. Being a certified laughter trainer gives me many tools to share with staff members.
It is easy to feel lost and isolated in a nursing home. Because of various challenges, residents living in the same room can become isolated from each other. A visit from someone outside the facility can break the tension and provide a pleasant experience for these roommates to encourage more communication and connection.
During my visits, I try to help create social restoration for these seniors through laughter, listening, and prayer.

Here is the vision for Laughing Church:
1. Learn how to make laughter, and the joy of the Lord, a daily part of our lives. We strive to let God fill our mouths with laughter, and share the happiness with those around us.
2. Use therapeutic laughter to transform senior care centers into communities filled with the sounds of joy and love!
3. Support laughter leaders to work full time with seniors bringing this wonderful medicine to our seniors every day.
4. Create laughter leaders among the staff at nursing homes, memory care facilities, rehabilitation centers, and group homes.
Will you share our vision?
The current mission project for Laughing Church is to raise the funding to train and certify staff members at our first nursing home in Marin County, California. The cost for this project is $2000 to provide many hours of full time support.
I am negotiating with two facilities, and there are several staff members at each facility who are hungry for this training of how to use laughter in their own lives and to help their patients.
But the process of working with the management is taking weeks to get them to commit. If you can help me break thru the red tape, and help me find a facility with management that is ready and willing, I am ready to serve!
Our next project will be to expand to 5 elder care facilities in Marin, Vallejo, and/or Petaluma, Vallejo, or Benicia, California. Laughing Church needs to raise $12,000.
The next phrase will be a several week road tour to visit nursing homes in a Nevada and Arizona. I will personally cold call facilities to lead laughter sessions for patients and give short staff seminars. I will work tirelessly to find five more facilities that want me to stay and train their staff in a full range of techniques to use therapeutic laughter. That project has a goal of $25,000 funding.
The next stage will be a cross country tour to transform facilities in five more states to be laughter sanctuaries for their residents.
Laughing Church members and supporters will have a goal of raising $250,000 from corporate and philanthropic sources to support hiring and training laughter missionaries to bring laughter to elder care communities nationwide.
With the power of prayer, laughter, joy and love, we can transform senior health care. The science is abundant about the tremendous benefits from this approach.

Your donations help support the very modest costs of the Laughing Church. Some of the costs include paying for the technology, travel expenses, providing reading material to residents, and onsite trainings for staff members at nursing homes, and developing online courses to help people all over the world bring healing laughter to their community.
This is a simple ministry. My simple request is that you learn about my ministry, decide if God is calling on you to provide support, and donate what your heart can afford to help me visit seniors to help them laugh, move, feel good, and have prayers and a loving ear to listen to them and help them feel better through the healing power of prayer and joy.
At this time it is just me trying to do the work with seniors that the Lord has put on my heart do. There is no fancy facility. No fancy tax deduction. No non-profit organization to pay lawyers to run.
It's just me. And, I hope, you too, joining with me and many others to make the vision and missions possible.
